Migrating from on-premise to the cloud is a main activity for countless IT departments. As a result, there is a continuous demand for IT professionals with this experience, preferably with multiple migrations. Of course, it is more difficult to find people that everyone would like to have. In addition, at the start of a job, the work is sometimes in one city/location, and after migration in a completely different place.

Resistance to change

Once the migration is complete, working in the cloud requires different behavior from the users. For example, they will share links of files instead of entire documents. Because change usually causes resistance, filling such a vacancy is actually the start of a change process.

Strong personality

Another group that is in high demand for ICT professionals are architects and system administrators. Enterprise architects who have an overview of the entire IT landscape are the hardest to find now. In addition to professional knowledge, these specialists preferably also have good communication skills, because of the many stakeholder management. That makes recruiting these professionals specialist work. What I see is that IT operations is an enormously challenging and stressful field. After all, implementing new systems almost never – or actually never – goes right the first time. So when recruiting these professionals, the pressure is automatically on for me. In addition to the right skills, I also pay attention to personality, because for a position where you are so much in the spotlight internally, you must have personality and be able to take it. Do you want insight into the current candidate market for (specialist) IT positions? Or would you like to discuss a suitable next step? Feel free to contact me!
